50s in February = Busy bees!

We had a few days of upper 40 and 50 degree weather for the first week of February, and the honeybees were definitely taking advantage of the warm weather (pooping, mostly.)

While talking outside the other day, our neighbor, lovingly, said to me, “I can feel them!” Their energy certainly electric, it felt as spring was really a possibility. (Until, doom: dropping temperatures and another threat of snow coming on Tuesday.)

But for now, all nine of our hives have activity. One hive, a young bunch that swarmed late last season, is a bit small, but hopefully they can power through the rest of this season.
