Building a roundabout here will enhance and beautify the entrance to the city, making it easier than ever to access and support local commerce.
— New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez

The intersection of I-587 in the City of Kingston is getting a $11.6 million upgrade that includes a roundabout and raised pedestrian facilities to make it easier to navigate the convergence of three heavily traveled roadways – the intersection of Interstate 587 (Colonel Chandler Drive), Broadway, and Route 32 (Albany Avenue).

Construction is expected to be completed in stages, with most work scheduled between 2020 and 2021. The upgrades will help smooth traffic flow between vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, improve safety while also incorporating “green technologies.”

A construction team from from the Department of Transportation will answer any questions about the project during an informational open house on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 6-8pm at the Kingston City Hall. Or you can submit any questions or comments about the project online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/B5D56DH
