Hudson Valley artists open their doors for annual studio tour

Being sequestered is certainly an issue during these times, but it isn’t as much of a problem for me ... Creating art is generally a lonely endeavor – it’s just me, the paint and the canvas, or me, the paper and printing press. My love of painting and creating art remains intact.

Twenty-seven Hudson Valley artists will carefully, under CDC and local guidance, open their studio doors to the public for the 13th annual Art Studio Views taking place this weekend, August 29-30, 2020. This weekend’s free, self-guided tour will lead visitors to studio spaces and galleries in Germantown, Hyde Park, Red Hook, Rhinebeck, and Tivoli.

“I believe people are hungry to get out after being home these past months,” said Joanna Hess, director of Art Studio Views. “ASV will be a very positive experience for our visitors and artists alike. I especially encourage families to enjoy this adventure: Visiting an artist’s studio is an opportunity to personally interact with the artists and learn about their processes.”

In accordance with COVID-19-related protocols, attendees must wear a mask, and there will be a limit on the number of people allowed in a studio; social distancing measures will also be in place. In addition, many studio experiences will be outdoors, under tents, and some will remain indoors.

Art Studio Views takes place in northern Dutchess County on September 5-6, 2020, from 11am to 5pm, and is free and open to the public.
