Bard names new president

Marvin Krislov, right, will replace Leon Botstein as president of Bard College. The two worked together in 2020 to create a joint admission agreement between Bard College and Pace University.

“After an extensive and careful search,” Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson has announced it’s newest president.

In a unanimous vote, the Board of Trustees elected Marvin Krislov, former president of Pace Univiersity, to lead the liberal arts college.

The appointment of Krislov follows the departure of longtime Bard leader Leon Botstein after 51 years, as revelations of his relationship with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, including private trips to the college’s riverside campus, were revealed.

“Marvin Krislov is the ideal leader to guide the college forward at a pivotal moment in the institution’s 166-year history,” said Chairman of the Bard College Board of Trustees, Brandon Weber ’97. “Building upon Bard’s legacy of innovation and excellence, Krislov is committed to honoring and advancing the institution’s mission as a private college serving the public good.”

Prior to his post with Pace University, Krislov served as President of Oberlin College, from 2007 to 2017, where, according to reports, he “successfully led a comprehensive $318 million fundraising campaign – the largest in the college’s history – and launched Oberlin Access Initiative to support low-income students.”
