Locals grapple at first ever girls wrestling state championships
Once again history, nay herstory, was made on Thursday, February 27, 2025 with the first ever New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Girls Wrestling Individual State Championships at the MVP Arena in Albany.
New York State is the first state in the country to hold an interscholastic freestyle wrestling championship for girls.
During the inaugural event, 212 athletes competed in 13 weight classes with several Hudson Valley-area athletes making their marks in the history books:
