Public hearing on “Truth” via Zoom
Monday, January 25, 2021 • 7pm • The Village of Kinderhook Zoning Board of Appeals will discuss the standing of “Truth Be Told,” by Nick Cave on the facade of The School building on Broad Street. The artist and gallery owner, Jack Shainman, are contesting the village’s code enforcement officer’s ruling that the piece is technically a sign, and violates the gallery’s special use permit. The installation is expected to finish it’s 3-month run at the gallery on January 31, 2021 and will move on to the Brooklyn Museum this spring.
And as of Monday morning, hours before the ZBA public hearing, Cave’s installation is being removed completely from the facade of The School building. The Full Wolf Moon
Rising Thursday, January 28, 2021 • January’s full Moon came to be known as the Wolf Moon because wolves were more often heard howling at this time, according to the Farmers’ Almanac. This full moon has also been referred to as Center Moon by the Assiniboine people to mark the middle of the winter season. “Other traditional names for the January Moon emphasize the harsh coldness of the season: Cold Moon (Cree), Frost Exploding Moon (Cree), Freeze Up Moon (Algonquin), Severe Moon (Dakota), and Hard Moon (Dakota).”
