Eleanor Roosevelt 137th Birthday Wreath Laying Ceremony

Roosevelt-Vanderbilt National Historic Site Superintendent, Amy Bracewell will give the remarks. The NYS Sheep and Wool Festival
October 16-17, 2021 • Dutchess County Fairgrounds, Rhinebeck • The Northeast’s thriving sheep industry is showcased and celebrated each year in this famous festival known simply as “Rhinebeck” that draws a multitude of visitors from across the country to the village. Due to COVID restrictions, prepare for a slightly scaled-back, hybrid event this October. Vendors will be placed throughout the property, both in buildings and outside, leaving room for proper spacing and distancing. The festival includes fiber artists and crafts galore, amazing sheep herding demonstrations, frisbee dogs, and a petting zoo. No in-person workshops will be taking place, but a curated selection will be available to take virtually on the Thursday and Friday of that week. Demonstrations, farm tours, and other educational videos will also be held online, as well as a handful of vendors offering virtual sales via the website. "Kingston Burned, 244 Years Ago Today" a Presentation and Encampment
Saturday, October 16, 2021 • 10am - 2pm • 74 John Street, Kingston • Free • For a glimpse of 18th century life at the time of the American Revolution, join the 1st Ulster Militia for a day in the life of a militiaman. There will be a presentation at noon by Hank Yost who will talk about the events leading up to the Burning of Kingston: the progress of the war and how Kingston fit into the Burgoyne campaign, the defense of the Hudson River waterway, and the events that occurred that day and its aftermath. Interact with colonial era re-enactors including the doctor, his scribe, the gamesman, the laundress, the cook and of course, militia soldiers. The original 1st Regiment, Ulster County Militia was composed of citizen soldiers from the area now within the boundaries of Kingston, Saugerties and Woodstock. Glaze Making Workshop
Saturday October 23, 2021 • 3-5pm • $90 • Clay Works, 485 Main Street, Poughkeepsie • This class is a crash course on the ins and outs of making glaze and creating your own custom colors. We’ll cover the basic chemistry of glaze + how it works, how to read a glaze recipe, how to mix and measure dry materials, how to scale recipes up and down for testing and big batches, how to record glaze tests, and lastly (most importantly) how to use mason stains to create an endless rainbow of glaze colors. The first half of the class will consist of lecture and the second half will be hands-on. Students will be provided with a base glaze and have the opportunity to mix up 3 of their own unique colors. Plain white test tiles will be provided but students are encouraged to bring small bisque pieces to dip into their test glazes. Glaze tests are tiny so keep that in mind with the bisque you bring. Asymmetrical Handled Baskets

Cemetery Crawl Closing Award Ceremony

Haunted Hamlet and Monster's Ball
Saturday, October 30, 2021 • 3-7pm • Wassaic Project • Instead of floats, this year will feature seven PG-rated art installations/trick-or-treating stations around Maxon Mills and the Luther Barn field, explore an all-encompassing banana invention hut from Paul Belenky, a giant plinko game (with real prizes!) from David Diamond and Pete Vigeant, a mutant forest from Melinda Kiefer and Christopher Santiago, dancing candy spirits from Grace Lang, a Halloween-themed “Let’s Make a Deal” game led by a game show host zombie from Katrina Majkut, a fairytale witches hut from TJ Greenway and Ben Philipp, and a fibrous candy monster from Ana Maria Farina and Hannah Washburn. The Haunted Hamlet event is free for all ages, but RSVP recommended to help with the candy count. At 7pm, The Monster’s Ball will take place over at The Lantern featuring live music (bands TBD!), DJ sets by Taraka, and a costume contest. Please note that Monster’s Ball tickets ($20) must be purchased in advance and that all attendees must wear a costume. Weaving as Meditation

During this workshop you will learn basic weaving skills to use as a foundation from which to explore mindfulness through creativity. Long-term traffic alert in Clinton
The bridge at the intersection of Fiddlers Bridge and Long Pond Roads by the West Clinton Fire House (Station 2) will be closed beginning Monday, July 26 for the total replacement of the bridge and buttresses.
