“Slavery, Segregation & Staatsburgh”
July 4, July 9 and July 17, 2022 • 1pm • Staatsburgh State Historic Site • The program will explore themes of race, freedom, and citizenship, based on recent research into Staatsburgh’s history. Join Historic Interpreter Zachary Veith for a conversation about the long path from enslavement to freedom taken by Black men, women, and children within the context of the Staatsburgh estate, built by the son of a signer of the Declaration of Independence. In addition to this special program, the site will be open for mansion tours on July 4. The program will also be offered on July 9 and 17 at 1:00pm. 4th of July Fireworks
Monday, July 4, 2022 • 6:30 - 8:30pm • Walkway Over the Hudson • Walkway Over the Hudson will be open to ticket holders only to view the City of Poughkeepsie fireworks display. The Walkway will close to the general public at 4:30 p.m. for event setup and safety preparations. Josh Groban

Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival
Beginning July 7, 2022 with Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare and directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch, concluding on September 18. Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play by Anne Washburn with music by Michael Friedman and directed by Davis McCallum will play in repertory with Romeo and Juliet beginning on July 8 and run through September 17. The 2022 season will also include the touring production of Where We Belong by Madeline Sayet, directed by Mei Ann Teo and produced with Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, in association with Folger Shakespeare Library. Bard SummerScape 2022
Ongoing, through August 14, 2022 • Bard SummerScape returns with eight weeks of live music, opera, dance and theater. Through twelve themed concerts and panel discussions, the 32nd Bard Music Festival, “Rachmaninoff and His World,” offers an intensive reexamination of the contradictory life and times of Sergei Rachmaninoff, complemented by The Silent Woman (“Die schweigsame Frau”), the only true comic opera by the composer’s close contemporary Richard Strauss, in a rare new production from German director Christian Räth. SummerScape 2022 also presents the world premieres of new commissions in both dance and theater. Fisher Center Choreographer-in-Residence Pam Tanowitz premieres a major dance setting of the biblical Song of Songs with new music from Pulitzer Prize-winning composer David Lang, and, to mark Molière’s 400th anniversary, director Ashley Tata puts a feminist spin on the French playwright’s tragicomedy Dom Juan in a new translation by Sylvaine Guyot and Gideon Lester. The 13th Season of ‘Bridge Music’
Through October 31, 2022 • 8am-8pm • Free • Mid Hudson Bridge (Towers), U.S. 44-55, NY, Poughkeepsie/Highland • Bridge Music, Joseph Bertolozzi's musical opus celebrating the iconic Mid Hudson Bridge (and sister project to Tower Music from the Eiffel Tower in Paris) opens its 13th season April 1. Free and open to the public, this sound-art installation is located at each of the bridge's towers, accessed from the Mid Hudson Bridge's pedestrian sidewalks at Johnson-Iorio Park, in Highland. There are few pleasures better than sitting outside on a summer night listening to hand-picked music by one of your favorite bands. Regardless, the boys blend country, bluegrass, and blues, as well as some Celtic and gospel influences, into a potent brew of acoustic music. Silk Scarf Cyanotype Workshop
Sunday, July 31, 2022 • 10am-1pm • Cost: $65 • 89 Vineyard Avenue, Highland • This workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to print two cyanotypes (blueprints/sun prints) ; one on handmade watercolor paper and one on a silk scarf. A brief history of cyanotypes will be provided as well as a reference list for your use after the workshop. Fees: Regular Admission: $65 Includes one 9"x12" pre-coated handmade watercolor paper and one 6"x24" white silk scarf that you will coat with the cyanotype chemicals, yourself. Enhanced Admission: $79 Includes same as above plus one digital 8.5"x11" negative; email me a photo of your choice and I will make the negative for you for use with your projects. Hudson Valley Multidisciplinary artist, Helen Gutfreund, the facilitator of this class, loves cyanotype for its simplicity and for the wide range of applications that brings.
