Mystery solved: ‘Poker Face’ filmed locally

“Poker Face,” the 10-episode mystery-of-the-week series from “Knives Out” director Rian Johnson that follows Natasha Lyonne as Charlie, a “human lie detector,” premieres this week.

But from April through October of 2022, it was no mystery: “Poker Face” was filmed throughout the Hudson Valley – in Accord, Beacon, Middletown, New Paltz, Newburgh, New Windsor, Olivebridge, Poughkeepsie, Somers and Walden – and the production hired “thousands of local extras, and more than 50 local crew members.” 

Among those filming alongside local crew members in the area were: Ellen Barkin, Benjamin Bratt, Adrien Brody, David Castañeda, Hong Chau, Clea DuVall, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Stephanie Hsu, Jameela Jamil, Judith Light, Tim Meadows, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, Nick Nolte, and Chloë Sevigny.

Filming locations for “Poker Face” included:

  • The Towne Crier Café in Beacon

  • Story Screen Beacon Theater

  • The Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie

  • Tetta’s in Olivebridge

  • The Castle Fun Center in Chester

  • The Brewery at Orange County Hops

  • Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown

  • Woodland Pond in New Paltz

  • North Plank Road Tavern in Newburgh

  • Restaurant Depot in Newburgh

  • Main Street in Cornwall
