WAAM warns of suspicious emails
The Woodstock Artists Association and Museum (WAAM) Executive Director Nicole Goldberg sent a letter to supporters on Wednesday about a recent fraudulent email targeting veterans.
“We are reaching out to inform you of a recent fraudulent email attempting to trick WAAM email recipients into providing sensitive information by purchasing gift cards for the ‘Veterans at Hospice & the Palliative Care Unit,’” according to Goldberg’s letter.
WAAM does not solicit donations to outside organizations, Goldberg added.
The artists association asks supporters to “be vigilant when receiving emails that appear to be from WAAM or WAAM Board Members, especially if they:
Ask for personal details like passwords, credit card numbers, or bank account information.
Contain urgent requests to click on links or download attachments from unknown sources.
Have unusual sender email addresses that may look slightly different from our official domain.
Use language to pressure you into immediate action.
If you receive a suspicious email that appears to be from WAAM or WAAM Board Members, please:
Do not click on any links or open attachments.
Do not reply to the email.
