County to host 9/11 Serve + Remember Day

“9/11 Day is a call to action,” says Polly Lagana, Executive Director for the Volunteer New York!, a community organization based in the lower Hudson Valley that is leading this year’s 9/11 Serve and Remember Day at the Westchester County Center.
The day of activities on Thursday, September 11 include writing letters to deployed military personnel, creating blankets for children in need, donating blood, packing 50,000 meals and preparing sandwiches for families, and a hands-only CPR workshop with the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
“It’s a day for our community to show up for our neighbors and transform remembrance into impact,” Lagana added. “Whether we are working together to pack meals or giving time in another way, every act of service helps build a stronger, more connected community.”
Free parking is available at the Westchester County Center for this event. (Organizers say mention to the parking attendant you are there for the 9/11 volunteer event.)
