Local vets to be honored as part of Wreaths Across America

Local veterans will be honored this week with a parade and wreath-laying ceremonies across the Hudson Valley as part of Wreaths Across America, a 30-year national tradition where volunteers place more than 2 million wreaths at cemeteries, veterans’ memorials and historic sites throughout the country.

In Orange County, the annual tribute begins with the wreath escort parade on Thursday, December 11, 2025, starting on Main Street in Goshen at approximately 10:15 a.m. The main wreath-laying ceremony will follow on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at noon at the Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located at 111 Craigville Road in Goshen.

In Ulster, the New Paltz Rural Cemetery Group will honor local veterans on December 13, 2025 beginning at noon at the Ulster County Veterans Cemetery at the New Paltz Rural Cemetery, 81 Plains Road, New Paltz. (Link)

“Each wreath represents a life of service and sacrifice,” said Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus. “Participating in Wreaths Across America is a meaningful way for our community to come together and show our gratitude to the veterans who have protected our freedoms. I encourage residents to honor a veteran in their life or one who may have no family left by sponsoring a wreath and helping us ensure every hero is remembered.”

Residents are invited to join the parade and ceremony, and to sponsor wreaths to be placed at the Orange County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery. Wreaths are $17, though donations of any amount are welcome. Checks can be made payable to Nam Knights M/C and mailed to the Veterans Service Agency at: 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924.
