‘Massive’ food drive planned across Hudson Valley
The federal government shutdown may now be over, and SNAP funding may have been extended until next year, but the work is not done to support those in our community most in need, especially during the holidays.
That’s why, this weekend, the Regional Food Bank of the Hudson Valley is planning a massive food drive to provide 115,000 meals to 25,000 local residents, including 2,000 meals for seniors living in low income housing.
Anyone who needs a holiday meal will receive a turkey and bag of groceries, which include all the fixings for a traditional holiday meal – no questions asked. “While supplies are limited,” the food bank noted, “we are doing everything we can to ensure that everyone who gets in line receives food to help them celebrate the holiday.”
Arrive early; Food will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. To help ensure that everyone in line receives food, each site will have limits in place, such as how many households can be served per vehicle. No pre-registration is necessary.
Meal distribution will take place on Saturday, November 22 beginning at 10am at these locations across the Hudson Valley region:
• Orange County: Mount Saint Mary College, 330 Powell Avenue, Newburgh
• Orange County: Regional Food Bank, 580 State Route 416, Montgomery
• Dutchess County: Dutchess Community College, 53 Pendell Road, Poughkeepsie
• Ulster County: Good Neighbor Food Pantry, 16 Rock City Road, Woodstock
• Sullivan County: Sullivan Government Center, 100 North Street, Monticello
• Rockland County: Clover Stadium, 1 Phil Tisi Way, Pomona
Volunteers are also wanted to prep bags, and hand-out groceries the day of the event. Shifts begin at 7am. Volunteer your time or donate, here: https://regionalfoodbank.net/2025-thanksgiving-food-distribution-live/
