Name: Kimm Alfonso

Tell us about yourself!: I'm a cross-disciplinary artist with a decade of experience as a graphic designer and another decade as an entrepreneur. I have a degree in Art History and minor in women’s studies from Boston University, in addition to a smattering of drawing and design classes. I have been everything from a professional graphic designer, a founder and leader of an arts non-profit, and an executive at several companies geared toward empowering creative pursuits.

I have a robust creative side that has fueled my curiosity and informed my artwork and corporate career my entire life. I make art and produce creative work informed by my years of study and perspective. I have always been happiest when I am creating or supporting others to create, that is where I thrive. 

In the '90 and '00s I pursued a career in graphic design, which helped me scratch my creative itch, but left me feeling a gap in my potential, which was realized by founding and growing an arts non-profit and having a career in creative community development. I always, however, come back to creative work, using my experiences and curiosity to drive me. I believe in the accessibility of art to create joy and encourage curiosity.

What are some of your favorite things to do in the region?: Hiking, collecting wild flowers, gardening, and meeting other artists in the region.
