Farrago (noun): a confused mixture.
Volume 2: Farrago, The Archivists' much anticipated follow-up to their debut album, finds the band in a space where they are sounding both more experimental and cohesive at the same time. Crafting a signature sound from wide blend of influences like its predecessor, Farrago never sits still, weaving in and out of genres while still taking the listener on a cohesive journey.
Farrago loosely tells the tale of a world on the brink, expressing the internal turmoil of feeling frustrated, angry, apathetic, disappointed, sad, broken, defiant, hopeful, and joyful against all odds in the face of an uncertain future.
Releases March 28, 2025

From the appropriately titled lead-off track The Arrival, it is obvious this is a band more mature than their release count would suggest. A winding journey through their various styles and influences, Volume 1 introduces the Archivists as a band that is both meandering and focused. Unpredictable and following ideas where they lead, the album is at times brutally heavy and at others soft and embracing. Tracks like The Arrival, Consolation, and Your Big Mistake refuse to be taken lightly as they rumble and soar with energy, contrasting tracks like The Last One, Hold the Applause, and These Fears that find the duo's varied musical influences shining through, from alt-rock to industrial to grunge to prog.
Both an art project and a band, The Archivists is a collaboration between long-time friends and hobby musicians Jordan Hirsch and Adam Mitchell. The unknown duo are ready to step into the light with a home grown and self-produced debut album that proves their time in the shadows was spent honing their craft.
