Name: Teri Siegel
What county do you live in?: Westchester
Tell us about yourself + your work: The first time I tried watercolor painting was in high school. That was a very long time ago. But, in my teens, I immediately fell in love with the medium. It seemed almost magical to me, particularly the way the colors blossomed and merged on paper with the touch of clean water. I was attracted to the simplicity of watercolor and the craft of capturing light in the scene through the paper itself.
College, marriage, career and family followed creating an almost 45 year gap in painting. None at all. And then retirement happened. And, the pandemic happened. Oddly, the two together have given me the time to rediscover watercolors. It has been pouring out of me.
Finally, I am fortunate enough to live in the Hudson Valley region of New York state. The scenery is inspiring in every season. The vast sky, the light between the trees, the reflections in the snow, and the abundance of water around every corner. There is never a shortage of inspirations to paint.
