A new concert and event venue has been announced in the City of Kingston

The Woodstock Artists Museum (WAAM) will be closed to the public this week through October 20 to host the Woodstock Film Festival. The gallery will re-open to the public on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. woodstockart.org
Cruise stops coming to Orange County
Steve Neuhaus, Orange County Executive and Navy Seabee veteran, announced that the county has been working with American Cruise Lines to add stops like West Point, Storm King Art Center, the Purple Heart Hall of Honor and Washington’s Headquarters to their route beginning next year. “These aren’t the giant cruise ships…they’re river cruise ships,” Neuhaus said. The ships will hold up to 150 passengers with crew of around 35 aboard. Amenities will feature lunch, dinners, lectures, live music, a gym, “a very relaxed, luxury type thing,” Neuhaus added. “I think it’s a really good opportunity for us.”
Beware: Medicare Open Enrollment begins
Medicare Open Enrollment begins October 15, 2024. Also beware: The Medicare Scammers, the Dutchess County Office for the Aging reminds residents. “Medicare does not cold-call people. Neither does Social Security. Neither do your local courts or law enforcement. Neither do we at the Office for the Aging, by the way.”

Aerodrome remainder of 2024 airshow season
Biplane rides are still available Monday through Friday by appointment for the remainder of October, and the museum will be open this Saturday with biplane rides available and pumpkin painting for the kids. A memorial for Brian Coughlin, the pilot who died in an accident during a recent airshow, will be held at the beginning of the 2025 season, according to Aerodrome staff. “We thank everyone for their continued support. Former Ulster County clerk passes away
Nina Postupack, 67, died on October 10 after a battle with cancer. Postupack began her career at the Ulster County Clerk’s office only a few months after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Marymount College in 1979. She retired before the end of her term as Ulster County Clerk in August for health reasons. “As our County Clerk, Nina Postupack served us all with compassion and respect. As a long time Kingston resident, she cared deeply about our city, its history, and her fellow community members. She will be missed greatly by all of us. On behalf of the City of Kingston, I send my condolences to Nina’s family during this difficult time,” City of Kingston Mayor Steve Noble said in a statement. Candidates for NY-18 to face-off during chamber breakfast, again
Fresh off a debate at the Ulster County Chamber’s breakfast, incumbent Congressman Pat Ryan and Alison Esposito, his challenger in the race for Representative for New York’s 18th District, will face off during an early morning breakfast hosted by the Dutchess County Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, October 17, 2024 beginning at 7:30am at the DoubleTree in Poughkeepsie.
