Public meeting on new Beacon-Hopewell rail trail

On Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at noon, Dutchess County officials will host a virtual public meeting to discuss the Beacon-Hopewell Rail Trail Feasibility Study.

The study examines the feasibility, trail concepts, cost estimates and community input on constructing a 13-mile rail trail along a portion of the MTA’s inactive Beacon line between the Hudson River in the City of Beacon and the hamlet of Hopewell Junction in the Town of East Fishkill.

The proposed trail would also connect to trails such as the Riverfront Trail and future Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail in Beacon, and the William R Steinhaus Dutchess Rail Trail and Empire State Trail in Hopewell Junction (East Fishkill).
