Public comment wanted on MTA proposed fare changes

This week, the public can submit comments on the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA)’s plan to increase fares across its services.

Under the proposed changes, all toll rates would increase 7.5% at all facilities. This includes E-ZPass and Tolls by Mail. Long Island Railroad and Metro-North fares for monthly and weekly tickets would increase up to 4.5-percent across both railroads. All other ticket types would increase up to 8-percent. Fares would also increase for New York City subways and buses.

Members of the public wishing to comment on these specific changes, and/or provide feedback on the MTA’s fares may do so by submitting a comment at the link: Submit a comment on the MTA’s proposed changes to fares and tolls. Those interested in providing comments at a hybrid public hearing will have two minutes to speak.

The MTA will hold three hybrid public hearings on the proposed fare changes:

All public hearings will be held in person at New York City Transit Authority, 130 Livingston Street, 1st Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11201
