Putnam County Deputy stabbed; released from hospital
A Putnam County Deputy has been released from the hospital following an attack Monday morning.
According to Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley, deputies responded to a domestic dispute on Peekskill Hollow Road in the Town of Putnam Valley around 10am on Monday, January 20, 2020.
A father and son were arguing when the son allegedly stabbed the father multiple times. Deputies stepped in to tase the son, but during the altercation, one of the deputies, who still has not been identified, was stabbed in the arm which severed an artery.
“The damage was more extensive than originally thought,” Langley said. “But the skilled surgeons at New York-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital were able to repair the damage. His prognosis for a full recovery is good.”
The suspect, Timothy Redmond, has been arraigned and remanded to Putnam County Jail. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Authorities said this is the first time of a life-threatening attack attack against one of its members in the department's history.
