NY’s Plastic Bag Ban returns
Monday, October 19, 2020 • It wasn’t the coronavirus that stopped the ban of single-use plastic bags in New York State – it was a lawsuit that recently ruled in favor of the ban. The enforcement of the state’s single-use plastic bags will resume on October 19, 2020 • More info: LINK
Lake Walton Preserve Draft Master Plan Virtual Public Information Meeting
Monday, October 19, 2020 at noon and Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 6pm • Virtual forum for residents to ask questions and offer feedback on Dutchess County’s plans for the 231-acre property located in East Fishkill. The forums will the history of the site as well as concept ideas for the Preserve, such as an elevated pavilion with accessible ramp, a sensory exploration patch and classroom, boardwalks, and scenic overlooks. Additionally, the first phase of the Preserve’s priority projects will be discussed including connecting the park to the adjacent Dutchess Rail Trail, constructing parking areas, and beginning design and development of a universally accessible loop trail • More info: LINK

Friday, October 23, 2020 • According to the state, “Movie theaters outside of New York City can reopen at 25 percent capacity under state guidance starting October 23. No more than 50 people are allowed in front of each screen in each movie theater at once. Theaters can only open outside of New York City in counties that have COVID-19 positivity rates of less than 2 percent on a 14-day average and do not have any cluster zones.” Due to the rate of positive cases, movie theaters in Orange, Rockland and Greene Counties here in the Hudson Valley will not be permitted to open • More info: LINK
