‘Climate Change and the Future of Montane Birds’
Thursday, October 15, 2020 • 7-8pm • The Catskills are renowned for their forested mountain landscapes and rich bird life. Dr. Jason Hill, an ecologist at the Vermont Center for Ecostudies, will discuss how climate change is predicted to shape northeastern forests over the next 200 years, with a focus on resident plants and wildlife. His talk will feature an in-depth look at the future of montane birds. NY’s Plastic Bag Ban returns

Lake Walton Preserve Draft Master Plan Virtual Public Information Meeting
Monday, October 19, 2020 at noon and Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 6pm • Virtual forum for residents to ask questions and offer feedback on Dutchess County’s plans for the 231-acre property located in East Fishkill. The forums will the history of the site as well as concept ideas for the Preserve, such as an elevated pavilion with accessible ramp, a sensory exploration patch and classroom, boardwalks, and scenic overlooks.
