Dan Jeanson, Project Director for the Hudson River Valley Greenway will present on the Hudson River Valley Greenway Grant program which provides funding to eligible communities to further a regional planning strategy consistent with the five Greenway criteria: regional planning, natural and cultural resource protection, economic development, public access, and heritage and environmental education. Dan will provide an overview of the program and information for potential applicants. Robert Leslie, Director of Planning for the Town of Bethlehem, will share how the municipality used Greenway Grant funding to update their municipal comprehensive plan including incorporating guidance for protecting local ecosystems, waterways, and wetlands. Bethlehem undertook their planning efforts over two years in partnership between community members, business leaders, and town staff with support from professional consultants, which was supported by a Hudson River Valley Greenway Grant. 35th Annual Shamrock Run + St. Patrick’s Day Parade

This annual two mile fun run precedes the Kingston Saint Patrick’s Parade. Participants are invited to gather at Academy Green for pre-run entertainment, and with a cannon blast at 12:50pm sharp, runners and walkers will race down the heart of Kingston and end at the foot of Broadway. This years race will honor the DeCicco Brothers and benefit Agri-Business Child Development Program of Ulster County. Entry fee for the race is $25 online before March 6, and $30 during race weekend on March 11 & March 12. Uniquely designed race shirts are available to first 2,000 runners. There are no refunds or exchanges, and animals are not permitted. There will be a post-race party at the Rondout Neighborhood Center at 105 Broadway at 1:30pm. Chasing Icebergs: Art and a Disappearing Landscape

The first winter exhibition at Olana State Historic Site will be shown primarily in the Sharp Family Gallery at Olana, and highlights Frederic Church’s iceberg sketches from his 1859 intrepid voyage to the Arctic. Risking his life, Church chartered a ship to the treacherous waters surrounding Newfoundland and Labrador — an area known as Iceberg Alley — on a mission that made him the first American artist to explore the region for the purpose of painting icebergs, a landmark event in the history of art. The exhibit includes photographs and historic texts which Church collected about icebergs and Arctic exploration, as well as the work of four contemporary artists who contemplate the wonder and fragility of Earth’s polar environments.For tickets and additional information, visit OLANA.org/icebergs.

This Happened is a storyboard, a series of tableau vivant-like paintings grappling with collective (racial) responsibility and Sandy’s feeling culpable for white people’s behavior towards black and brown people, spanning from 1500 to the present day. In 2015, Sandy’s life returned full circle back to making art, after spending many years as a doctor. The company was the site of two tremendous stills that were raided by state and federal authorities during Prohibition. The Dutchess County Historic Tavern Trail is a collaborative endeavor between between the Dutchess County Department of History, local historical societies, and signature food and beverage industry partners to create an innovative program that highlights the county’s rich history. Presenter, Hannah Speregen will cover Gwynne's life before the Titanic's sinking, the colleagues he worked with, and what the final moments were like for Gwynne and his fellow Postal Clerks before the ship went down. This presentation will have amplified sound as well as a slideshow presentation to go along with these subjects.This lecture will take within the cemetery, where Gwynne's cenotaph is placed. 2023 Rosendale Street Festival

The Rosendale Street Festival is a family-friendly, not-for-profit grassroots organization that was started in 1978 to showcase local talent and to celebrate the birthday of Rosendale icon, Uncle Willy. Today, the Rosendale Street Fest continues this tradition and has evolved into a two-day event that closes Main Street and boasts six stages, over 70 bands, over 100 of the best vendors in the Hudson Valley, a dance party, kids crafts, and short films. Street Fest is an entirely volunteer-run event, and proceeds go to supporting the Kingston, New Paltz, and Rondout Valley School District music departments. Community members are always welcome to join the committee. Planning meetings are held live at The Rosendale Theatre or on Mountain Stage in Willow Kiln Park and also on Zoom. There are also a variety of volunteer opportunities available during the two-day event, and volunteers are always needed.
