After three years of being closed, The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors will reopen during the Full Moon on Saturday, June 3 in conjunction with the opening of Entheon – a three-story carriage house that has been transformed into a stunning 12,000 square foot exhibition space in Wappingers. On display in The Great Hall (pictured) are transcendental works including Alex Grey’s beloved paintings, Net of Being (featured by the band Tool), Theologue (meditating figure), Cosmic Christ, and the winged bronze sculpture, World Soul. Beatriz Cortez: The Volcano That Left: Beatriz Cortez will present new and recent large-scale works for her first solo museum presentation on the East Coast + Ugo Rondinone: the sun and the moon. The exhibition is built upon the principles of two celestial forces representing contradictory, codependent, and complementary values. Protecting public drinking water supplies is a high priority for New York State, and one method communities can utilize is land acquisition. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s Water Quality Improvement Project (WQIP) Program funds land acquisition for the protection of drinking water supplies. During this June breakfast lecture, Kristin Martinez, Environmental Program Specialist, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will discuss the importance of source water protection, how land acquisition can aid with protecting public drinking water supplies, and the Water Quality Improvement Project (WQIP) Program, a state funding program that can help with land acquisition and associated costs. Bob Davis, Executive Director of the Winnakee Land Trust will present on the organization’s acquisition of land surrounding the Saw Kill Creek to protect the drinking source water for Bard College. The Saw Kill Water Quality Protection Project also provides public access to the acquired land through a network of trails which are planned to connect to the Village of Red Hook and Bard College. Soon after the invention of the daguerreotype, Samuel Lyon Walker became one of America’s first practitioners of this new art. His love and devotion to his craft ran deep and he was continually experimenting, even to the detriment of his health. Known for his great artistic taste, Walker’s images were considered some of the finest ever made. Though mostly unknown today, he was devoted to recording and promoting nineteenth century Poughkeepsie and its people. He is also licensed to breed and propagate dwindling species. His unique qualifications and expertise has put him high in demand as a consultant for zoos, wildlife centers, and he routinely works on any TV shows and movies where exotic animals are needed. A mini-Tempestry Workshop with Emily McNeil and Asy Connelly, co-founders of The Tempestry Project. All ages welcome, though young children will benefit from adult guidance. The Tempestry Project uses colorful, tactile, hands-on yarn-crafting to spark conversations about the environment, climate change, and global, local, and personal histories. Participants will go home with a completed mini-Tempestry, similar to the ones on display in the PHM's temporary exhibition of the Cold Spring Tempestry Collection. Participants are welcome to simply stop by for the activity or stay awhile, look at other Tempestries, and talk yarn, craftivism, climate, weather and more with Emily and Asy. History Hike: Benedict Arnold's Flight

General Benedict Arnold is infamous for his thwarted plan to surrender American-controlled West Point to the British during the Revolutionary War. Join PHM for a history hike of Arnold’s escape path through present day Garrison. Along the way we’ll discuss why the General was driven to betray the Revolution and how prominent local loyalist Beverly Robinson aided Arnold’s mission. Reps from the Cornell Cooperative Extension will join the hike and they will explore some of the ways that the natural environment plays a part in the history of the area. This history hike includes scenic views of the Hudson River and West Point and will last approximately 1.5 hours. The trail is one mile in length but includes uneven rocky terrain and several steep hills. Appropriate footwear and active/outdoor attire strongly suggested. Participants will be required to sign a release before the event. The parking lot is on the right hand side immediately after turning from 9D onto Glenclyffe. Hike Difficulty: Moderate. 2023 Rosendale Street Festival

The Rosendale Street Festival is a family-friendly, not-for-profit grassroots organization that was started in 1978 to showcase local talent and to celebrate the birthday of Rosendale icon, Uncle Willy. Today, the Rosendale Street Fest continues this tradition and has evolved into a two-day event that closes Main Street and boasts six stages, over 70 bands, over 100 of the best vendors in the Hudson Valley, a dance party, kids crafts, and short films. Street Fest is an entirely volunteer-run event, and proceeds go to supporting the Kingston, New Paltz, and Rondout Valley School District music departments. Community members are always welcome to join the committee. Planning meetings are held live at The Rosendale Theatre or on Mountain Stage in Willow Kiln Park and also on Zoom. There are also a variety of volunteer opportunities available during the two-day event, and volunteers are always needed.
