Steve from 'Blue's Clues' is alive in Beacon

Being the star of a popular children’s show isn’t easy. Especially when rumors of your death circulate after you leave that job.

From 1996 to 2002, Steve Burns helped Blue, a cartoon dog, solve mysteries with the aid of his handy, dandy notebook on the popular Nickelodeon show, Blue’s Clues. But when he left that job, rumors of his departure swirled: from being killed in a car accident, to overdosing on drugs, to even being murdered by the producers of the show. The rumors, and depression after the loss of his father to cancer, caused Burns to retreat from the public eye for several years.

This weekend, though, Steve Burns will be back in the spotlight to tell his own story with a new, one-man show, “Steve Burns Alive,” at the Howland Cultural Center in Beacon. In his debut solo drama, Burns explores how rumors of his death gave him a new perspective on life and how he comes to terms with being known as "Steve" from the popular children's television show, Blue's Clues.

“Steve Burns Alive” takes place for three shows only: July 18-20 at 8pm at the Howland Cultural Center, 477 Main Street, Beacon. Organizers say this “funny and heartfelt monologue is intended for adults.” Tickets are $35, advance registration recommended: Steve Burns Alive
