2021 Fourth of July Fireworks – but where?
Looking forward to Fourth of July fireworks? You may need to look somewhere else...
There will be no fireworks at a few of the usual viewing spots like the Walkway Over the Hudson this year
“The COVID-19 pandemic has robbed us all of so much, but nothing will stop Dutchess County from honoring the birth of our nation,” but that was so last year. This year, because of the limbo around lifting COVID-19-related restrictions, organizers of many of our usual (and favorite) Fourth of July firework displays did not have the time to organize their annual Independence Day festivities, and therefore, they aren't happening this year.
NO FIREWORKS: Poughkeepsie, Kingston, Newburgh, Peekskill
The usual Independence Day firework displays in Poughkeepsie (with views from the Walkway Over the Hudson), Katonah, Kingston, Newburgh, White Plains and Peekskill will not be taking place this year. And last year’s “renegade” firework celebrations at Silo Ridge in Amenia and the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck aren’t happening again either. (There will be fireworks following a screening of “National Treasure” at Dutchess Stadium, see listings below).
The Clermont State Historic Site will also be closed after their Independence Day event at 5pm, so no filling up the car and viewing the Saugerties display from there later that night either. And while West Point's Fourth of July firework celebration will be live this year, it will be closed to the public. Word is you can try to find a spot outside of the USMA grounds to view the fireworks.
