"So what if maybe" by Rose Marie LaPietra
For every almost maybe
the ½ loves
the right hearts but the wrong time
the lonely nights
the rainy days
may these pages restore hope in your eyes
and peace in your heart
today, tomorrow and all the days to come
A book of poetry that explores topics such as coping with various emotions, navigating relationships, love, loss, cultivating self-compassion, and more. It highlights the journey of self-exploration, through vulnerability, mindfulness, uncertainty, and a lot of the messy things many of us relate to but often avoid talking about.

Meet the Maker:
Name: Rose Marie LaPietra
What county do you live in?: Rensselaer
Tell us about yourself: I grew up in the Capital Region, where I developed a keen curiosity for the human experience – how we think, feel, behave, and make sense of the world. This guided me to study Psychology, but even before that, I worked very hard to try and understand the weight of unspoken thoughts and emotions. Writing became a place to share the big questions I was often too afraid to share out loud, a place to wonder, dream, and overtime, these questions and ideas weaved into poetry. Outside of writing, I’m drawn to stories, living an active lifestyle, and opening my eyes to new perspectives - whether through books, basketball, travel, and more.
What year did you start living/working in the Hudson Valley?: I was born in Troy, NY, and graduated from Troy High School in 2012. I attended Hudson Valley Community College before transferring to SUNY Brockport, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2016. I spent a few years living in North Carolina from 2019 to 2021 before returning to the Capital Region – and in 2022 began working at RPI, where I am today.
What are some of your favorite things to do in the region?: I love exploring local coffee shops, visiting the farmers markets in Troy, Saratoga, and Schenectady, attending poetry events at local venues, and playing basketball at the Saratoga YMCA.
