  • The City of Kingston has launched a community solar program with open enrollment for eligible residents: The Kingston Community Solar program will connect residents to the Moores Hill Community Solar Project, a 3,750KW solar farm currently being constructed in New Windsor. To learn more, the City of Kingston will host two public information meetings: Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 6-7:30pm at the Kingston Library, 55 Franklin Street, and a virtual information session on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 6:30-7:30pm.   • The Dutchess County Office for the Aging and the Hudson Valley Credit Union will be hosting a Scam Prevention event on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 10am at the Henry A. Wallace Visitor and Education Center at the Franklin Dr. Roosevelt National Historic Site in Hyde Park. RSVP by calling 845-486-2555.

  • The American Legion Post 346 is taking applications for the Hometown Heroes Banner Program. Applications and information on the program and where they will be displayed in Southern Columbia towns are available below or can be downloaded here

  • On Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 10am, the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response, the Dutchess County Office for the Aging and the Town of Fishkill will host a free Citizens Preparedness Training event for residents aged 60 and older, and their caregivers, at the Fishkill Town Recreation Center, located at 793 Route 52, Fishkill. Residents can “acquire the tools and resources to better prepare for any type of disaster, learn how to respond accordingly in a disaster, and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. Each household will receive a free Citizens Preparedness Corps Response Starter Kit. Space is limited to this event. Register in advance by calling the OFA at 845-486-2555.

  • To entice more filming in the state, New York has updated its Film Tax Credit Program to increase the base credit to 30-percent (up to 40-percent upstate), including certain above-the-line wages, increasing the annual funding allocation to $700 million. The Governor’s Office of Motion Picture & Television Development is hosting a virtual informational session on the NYS Film Tax Credit on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 1pm. Drop in to refresh your knowledge about the changes to the tax credit program and have your questions answered by our tax credit experts.
