Freeze warnings return tonight for parts of region
Freeze warnings and frost advisories issued for parts of our region from midnight through 9am Tuesday
With temperatures barely making it out of the 50s today, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Albany says “it won’t take much to fall towards the freezing mark” for parts of the region tonight, prompting freeze warnings and frost advisories from midnight to 9am.
Temperatures are expected to be near or below freezing across the western Mohawk Valley, eastern and northern Catskills and southern Green Mountains, where the growing season has officially started.
Any tender, young or sensitive vegetation could be damaged by frost/freeze; protective measures should be taken to preserve these plants. (Bring them inside or cover plants with a light bedsheet.)
Temperatures are expected to rebound quickly after daybreak, according to the NWS.
Unsettled weather is expected to return Wednesday into Thursday with widespread rainfall across the region before a “noticeable improvement in temps for the upcoming weekend,” NWS forecasters say.
