Joseph Bertolozzi's Bridge Music is a unique sound-art installation featuring the Mid Hudson Bridge as the instrument itself. It was created by sampling the sounds of bridge’s surfaces (guard rails, girders, etc.) with various mallets and using those sounds to compose the music. No processing was used, you hear the Mid-Hudson Bridge itself. The resulting album reached the Billboard Top Twenty Classical and Classical Crossover Charts in 2009. Hybrid Lecture: The Great Metropolitan Fair for the Relief of Sick and Wounded Soldiers

From the onset of the Civil War, the Union was unprepared for the consequences of modern warfare. Supported by President Lincoln with volunteers and fundraising events all over the country, the Sanitary Commission was a private relief agency providing invaluable help to the US Army Medical Bureau. Nurses filled new roles, and volunteers raised funds and supplied the support needed to care for the sick and wounded. Join local historian Kirk Moldoff at the Putnam History Museum for a look into our area’s connection to the Great Metropolitan Fair for the Relief of Sick and Wounded Soldiers. Registration is available for both in-person and/or Zoom.
