Adult Beginner Ballet Classes

Hudson Valley Academy of Performing Arts, 957 Route 82, West Taghkanic
In this beginner-level class, students will study the fine art of classical ballet, learning to execute movements safely, with joy and grace! The class is influenced by the Vaganova Method which emphasizes proper alignment, whole-body awareness, and development of the stabilizer muscles to prevent injury. Through the practice of exercises progressing from the floor, to the barre, to the center, students will gain strength, flexibility, and musicality. Some previous experience and familiarity with basic ballet vocabulary is recommended. Link

Flavors of Change: Food Stories from the Mid-Hudson Valley, 1680-1800
On view Wednesdays through Sunday from 10am to 4pm
DuBois Visitor Center, Historic Huguenot Street, 81 Huguenot Street, New Paltz

Selections from Historic Huguenot Street’s vast collection of food harvesting, processing, preserving, and cooking will be featured. Highlights include Indigenous-made wood and stone mortars and reproduction clay cooking pot, grain harvesting tools, butter making equipment, and a bread-baking and cast iron cooking display installed in the Dubois Fort’s fireplace and beehive oven. In conjunction with the exhibit, the newly planted “Ancestors’ Garden” (located next to the Daniel Hasbrouck House) will honor the three cultural groups. www.huguenotstreet.org.

The International Museum of Dinnerware, 524 Broadway, Kingston

Picnic features the work of thirty artists in ceramic, glass, metal, plastic, paper, mixed media, watercolor, analog collage, digital photography and digital illustration.
