“Queen Annes Lace - Botanical Monoprint” by Jessica Jordan

$65.00

One-of-a-kind original fine art print of an actual plant. Flowers, leaves, & branches are foraged and brought into the studio where they are inked and pressed between lightweight papers to create each image. Because the plant material quickly breaks down during this process, each print is part of a limited edition of one! The impression captures a moment in time & highlights our relationship to the transient existence of life. Each print uses oil-based ink on acid-free paper & is signed by the artist. Print ships unframed in a sturdy mailer.

Biography: I am an artist and high school art teacher who has taught and worked in the Hudson Valley all her life! I was born in Poughkeepsie, grew up in Lagrange and New Paltz, and I currently live in lower Westchester where I teach at White Plains High School. I studied art and art education at SUNY New Paltz, earning my BS in Visual Arts Education and my BFA in Ceramics in 2012. I then went on to receive my Masters of Arts in Teaching in Visual Arts Education from Manhattanville College in 2017.
As an artist, I enjoy working in a variety of media, including clay, paint, ink, fibers, glass, wire, and photography. For the past few years, I have begun working in printmaking and wool fibers and have created a series of prints I am very proud of. I am inspired by science and the natural systems, connections, and relationships
As an art educator, I strive to inspire my students to become well-rounded, active, 21st-century citizens. I work with students to develop self-directed courses of study and meaningful individual growth.

How long have you been living/working in the Hudson Valley?: Living 32 years, working in the arts for 13 years

Where or what are your favorite things to do in the Hudson Valley?: I love to hike our amazing trail system, bike, and kayak the river!

Describe your work: My work is inspired by nature & science - specifically the natural systems, connections, and relationships I find. My current body of work is a collection of monoprints where I ink and print foliage (flowers, leaves, etc) from around the HV.
