On January 12, 2022, Ronnie Spector, the “original bad girl of rock n’ roll,” passed away after a brief battle with cancer, according to her family:

“Ronnie lived her life with a twinkle in her eye, a spunky attitude, a wicked sense of humor and a smile on her face. She was filled with love and gratitude.

Her joyful sound, playful nature and magical presence will live on in all who knew, heard or saw her.”

Back in 2011, we watched Ronnie Spector light up the then-newly-renovated Piano Factory in Poughkeepsie as the special guest performer of the Woodstock Film Festival’s first annual Spirit of Woodstock Celebration that honored Michael Lang, co-founder of the 1969 Woodstock Arts and Music Festival.

Lang said at the event that “spirit is what led me here in the ‘60s to realize a dream.”

Lang passed away on January 8, 2022 due to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
