NYSP warn of targeted burglaries in Hudson Valley
New York State Police is warning residents of a series of targeted residential burglaries in Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester counties over the past week.
Police say three residential burglaries targeted the homes of Asian American residents, and “a substantial amount of U.S. currency and jewelry were stolen in two of the incidents.”
NYSP say the burglaries appear to be part of a targeted pattern and advises all residents in these counties, “particularly those in the Asian American community,” to enhance home security, locking all windows and doors, practicing personal safety including avoiding discussing vacation plans, and to report any suspicious activity immediately by dialing 911.
Similar reports of burglaries targeting Asian homes and businesses have been reported in Colorado, Minnesota, Oregon and New Hampshire.
Anyone with information about these burglaries is encouraged to contact NYSP Troop K Headquarters at 845-677-7300.
