Cluster of COVID-19 cases reported in Beacon

Seven residents of a nursing home in Beacon have died, according to Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro.

Molinaro confirmed the deaths amid a cluster of COVID-19 cases the the Hedgewood Assisted Living Facility during a recent COVID-19 town hall.

In his weekly coronavirus briefing Molinaro said “There has been a total of 74 cases related to the Hedgewood facility since the cluster began last month and a total of 7 deaths.”

Dr. Anil Vaidian, Commissioner of the Department of Behavioral & Community Health has issued a Commissioners Order requiring mandatory quarantine for all residents of Hedgewood. Staff members who test positive for COVID-19 must quarantine at home. Officials are working with the City of Beacon police to ensure quarantine rules are being observed.
