This unique exhibition brings together the local community to explore the profound intersections of nature, history, and narrative through the medium of printmaking. This collaboration was inspired by the discovery that GAC and DFPL had complementary summer themes—Garrison Art Center’s Rooted: Art and the Natural World for their K-12 Summer Programs and the Desmond-Fish Public Library’s summer reading theme, Unearth A Story. GAC and DFPL aimed to highlight the compelling connections between art, storytelling, and the natural world. Participating printmakers were encouraged to think expansively and approach the concepts of being "rooted" and "unearthing" both literally and conceptually. The resulting exhibition highlights the rich dialogue between visual art and storytelling. Website

Red Wing and Beyond: The Designs of Eva Zeisel and Belle Kogan
Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 6:30pm
Cost of admission: Free
Virtual
Scott Vermillion explores the remarkable careers of two pioneering women in American industrial design. At a time when the profession was overwhelmingly dominated by men – what was called a “boy’s club” – Zeisel and Kogan forged prolific and influential careers of their own. Both designers made important contributions to Red Wing Pottery. Eva Zeisel created the iconic Town and Country dinnerware line, while Belle Kogan worked with Red Wing under freelance contract at various times from 1938 through 1962. Her innovative Prismatique art pottery remains highly sought after by collectors. Their work for Red Wing represents only part of their much broader design legacies. Scott’s presentation celebrates Zeisel and Kogan not only for the beauty and innovation of their designs, but also for the paths they forged as women in a male-dominated profession. Both have been honored through museum collections and exhibitions and by the Industrial Designers Society of America, affirming their lasting significance in the history of industrial design. Along the way, Scott shares a few stories from his experiences with Eva, her daughter, and Belle’s nephew, offering a glimpse into the people behind the designs. Presented by the International Museum of Dinnerware Design in Kingston as part of their Unforgettable Dinnerware lecture series. Register

The truth is out there, hidden in remote, tucked-away corners of the Hudson River Valley…Are you ready to uncover it?
In Hauntings of the Hudson River Valley, author Vin Dacquino strives to discover the true story behind three enigmatic folk legends: Sybil Ludington, Chief Daniel Nimham, and George Denny. Each was the central figure in a dramatic series of events; each became enshrined in local lore for their actions; each has had their true story obscured; and each may have left behind a spiritual residue. Follow Dacquino as he interviews local experts, explores areas where hauntings may have occurred--such as Carmel's legendary Smalley's Inn – and digs deep into historical archives to open new windows into the lives and possible afterlives of these three mysterious characters.
