This 90-minute guided hike will lead visitors through the park, exploring the history of three estates: from Staatsburgh's founding as a gentleman's farm in the 1700s to the development of The Point and Stonehurst estates in the 19th century. In this beginner-level class, students will study the fine art of classical ballet, learning to execute movements safely, with joy and grace! The class is influenced by the Vaganova Method which emphasizes proper alignment, whole-body awareness, and development of the stabilizer muscles to prevent injury. Through the practice of exercises progressing from the floor, to the barre, to the center, students will gain strength, flexibility, and musicality. The series will explore and honor New Paltz’s history, people, place, architecture, and culture at America’s 250th. The offerings range from a walk around New Paltz to discover the different types of stone that make up the town’s buildings and an evening tour of the New Paltz Rural Cemetery to a juried art show, a performance by an indigenous storyteller with a harpist, and an artistic company depiction of key Revolutionary War events through 18th century music and songs. Trained in Kingston at a unique facility called Seal College, Sharkey starred on Broadway and worked with many entertainers and celebrities. His success resulted from the bond between him and his loving trainer, whose secret was showering Sharkey with kindness. A Light on the River: The Lighthouse Keepers of the Gilded Age

The position of Lighthouse Keeper is an antiquated job. It calls to mind loneliness, isolation, and in rare cases, even madness. But at this lecture and performance, you will learn what it was really like to be a lighthouse keeper. You’ll meet the Murdocks, a family that kept the Rondout Light for generations. Then, be transported to Kingston in 1884 as the Murdocks receive surprise visitors in the midst of preparing for a storm. This experience will include a short lecture as well as a full length play. Part of Trailside Museums and Zoo's monthly hiking series. A relatively flat loop across multiple trails at Lake Skanatati. Total Hike Length: 3.15miles Estimated time: 2.5 hours This (3+Mile) loop will have us on three different trails. Participants will start on Long Path trail (blazed blue-green) switching to the Yellow Blazed Dunning trail and finally finishing off with the Red Blazed Arden Surebridge Trail. We will park at the Skanattati lake parking area. The trail is rocky with some short elevation gains. There are a few sections of the trail that routinely flood, social trails have developed that allow us to skirt these flooded sections but the possibility of wet and muddy conditions is high. We will pause and investigate some of the open pit mines next to the pine swamp. Website

This year's show features a playful Dog and a thoughtful Snail who guide a disheartened Everyman through a series of medicine tales in the hope of re-sparking joy and elemental wonder. These medicine tales show the magic of DNA, the cycles of the cell, and glorious processes of photosynthesis, awakening the most downtrodden hearts. Join us this summer for an exciting, new, all-day youth program combining the considerable strengths and history of the Hudson River Maritime Museum, now in its 47th year! The HRMM Voyager Program offers a truly unique, multi-activity, hands-on opportunity for young participants. Open to all skill levels, our Seafarers (9-12 years old) and Navigators (13-17 years old) will spend each day sailing for three hours, practicing boat building and woodworking for 90 minutes, and participating in other STEAM activities involving history, crafts, games, and tours on our solar tour boat Solaris, all while fostering learning, friendship, and adventure. Seafarers and Navigators will come together for a mid-day lunch onshore. The program is led by professional woodworkers, museum educators, and US Sailing Certified Instructors who help participants explore how STEAM principles apply in the woodshop and on the water. Classes are held rain or shine each day they are scheduled. We sail in light rain, but if thunderstorms threaten we stay ashore and do other activities. Website

Participants will start at the Bear Mountain Inn and follow the Appalachian Trail for 1.5 miles to the top of Bear Mountain and Perkins Memorial Tower. We will pause to take in the view and enjoy a snack. We return to the Inn via the Appalachian Trail. Be sure to bring enough water for the whole hike. There are no water sources once we start up the trail. There should be porta-potties at the top of the but no running water. Hikers report this trail as Moderate to Hard and will involve a 1,131 ft elevation gain over the course of the 1.5 miles. Good trail shoes are essential. Trail snacks recommended. Parking fee at Bear Mountain $10 per car. Total distance 3 miles. Registration required. Website

With four albums under her belt—including a debut featured on film and television soundtracks—Jenna’s latest album, The Commuter, produced by three-time Grammy winner Larry Campbell, delivers vintage Americana with a fresh, cinematic feel. Meet in front of Bear Mountain Inn, 3006 Seven Lakes Drive, Bear Mountain
Part of Trailside Museums and Zoo's monthly hiking series. Participants will take the Major Welch Trail (blaze white with red circle) up the north side of Bear Mountain to the summit and Perkins Tower. This will be a challenging hike, sturdy boots are a must and a hiking stick or trekking poles are recommended. The loop is about 4 miles and we will budget 3.5 hours for the trek. We’ll gain 1,040 ft during the ascent. The trail includes dirt path, stone steps and short rock scrambles. Once at the top, we will have some time to pause, take in the scenery and enjoy any snacks you bring. We will take the Appalachian Trail back down Bear Mountain.
