Give It Up Group Exhibit and Reading
On view through September 10, 2025
Cost of admission: Free
36 St. James St., Kingston
GIVE IT UP is a place-based, interactive storytelling project from Josh Glenn and Rob Walker, creators of the fiction experiment SIGNIFICANT OBJECTS and the nonfiction series PROJECT:OBJECT. This summer, 11 Hudson Valley residents will share stories about what a particular object means to them. The objects will be displayed in a group show at Camp Kingston, along with the stories. Visitors to the exhibit and the project’s website will be invited to respond with suggestions, regarding each object, on why and how to … give it up. What can objects mean? How can we let meaningful objects go? Let’s find out together. On September 10, there will be a wrap-up party at Camp Kingston. Some of our contributors will be on hand to read their essays. We’ll also announce the most persuasive responses (to the essays) that we’ve received — after which our contributors will say goodbye to their significant objects… forever. Group Exhibit 8am - 4pm daily. Reading and party is on Sept 10 from 6-8 pm. http://giveitupkingston.substack.com/p/stories-responses

We are thrilled to bring this work to the naturally resonant Widow Jane Mine, where the cave-like setting echoes the mythic themes at the heart of the project. These are not traditional concerts, but living rites of passage - spaces where the boundary between artist and audience dissolves, and music becomes a vessel for personal and communal transformation. At its core, Greater Mysteries is about connection: to story, to land, to spirit, and one another. In a time of deep cultural change, it offers an opportunity to gather, to listen, and to remember what it means to be human - together. Please join to honor the turning seasons, celebrate the abundance of the Hudson Valley, and revel in the joy of being fully alive. www.greatermysteries.com
